Steven E. Harms, MD, FACR

Dr. Steven Harms is respected nationally as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging expert. Formerly the Director of Imaging Research and Professor of Radiology at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Dr. Harms has lived and practiced medicine in Little Rock since 1996. Harms was the Director of MRI at Baylor University Medical Center where he provided imaging services and was named a “Top Ten Physician” in the Dallas Fort-Worth Metropolis in D Magazine. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation named Harms “Komen Foundation Scientist of the Year” in 1998. Dr. Harms was given the Annual William Beaumont by the American Medical Association in 1997. This award is given to the outstanding physician in the United States under the age of 50.

Dr. Harms is an alumnus of the University of Arkanas in Fayetteville and the University of Arkanas Medical School in Little Rock. He has authored over 90 scientific papers, 41 book chapters, and 9 patents. Dr. Harms is a fellow of the Breast Imaging Society. He is past-president of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Dr. Harms is currently the Program Chairman of the American Society of Breast Disease and has served on the board of directors since 2003. Dr. Harms serves on the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines Committee, American College of Radiology Breast MRI Lexicon Committee, and the Susan G. Komen Public Policy Committee. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and the editorial board of The Breast Journal. In 2007, Dr. Harms lectured on "Breast MRI: Leading Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment in the 21st Century" and similar topics as a visiting professor at 15 medical schools and 11 medical conferences around the world.
